Accessibility is treated as an ongoing product responsibility, not a one-time certification. AustinPRAR works to identify barriers, prioritize fixes and offer a practical alternative when a website interaction does not work for someone.

02Target standard and measures

AustinPRAR aims to align this website with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. This is a target and continuing process, not a claim that every page is perfectly conformant in every technology combination.

• Semantic headings, landmarks, labels and native controls.
• A visible skip link and logical keyboard navigation.
• Visible focus states and controls sized for touch interaction.
• Responsive layouts tested at narrow phone, tablet and desktop widths.
• Text alternatives or accessible names for meaningful visual content.
• High-contrast text and status information that does not rely on color alone.
• Reduced-motion support where animation could affect usability.
• Form instructions, validation messages and programmatic status updates.
• No audio that begins automatically and no essential interaction requiring dragging alone.

The WCAG 2.2 standard ↗ provides technology-neutral success criteria for accessible web content.

03Testing and maintenance

Accessibility checks are incorporated into responsive browser review, keyboard interaction testing, semantic inspection and ongoing content maintenance. New features are reviewed in proportion to their impact, especially forms, authentication, scheduling controls and navigation.

Because browsers, assistive technologies and content change over time, AustinPRAR welcomes reports that identify a specific page, control and user impact.

04Known limitations and third-party content

Some linked publisher articles, calendar interfaces, meeting platforms and other third-party services are outside AustinPRAR’s control and may not provide the same accessibility support. The customizable Newsroom also displays publisher-supplied headline and excerpt text.

Generated or decorative imagery is not required to complete a form or understand a service. If an image, chart, document, calendar invitation or interactive feature creates a barrier, request the same information in a reasonable alternative format.
